WELCOME TO HOME AWAY FROM HOME INTERNATIONAL CHILDCARE
Home Away from Home has been registered with the Department of Employment (now Department for Business Enterprise and Regulatory Reform, BERR, Employment Agency Standards Inspectorate, EASI) since May 1995 and trading ever since. The main area of the business is the provision of au pairs from abroad whose purpose it is to improve their English whilst living as part of an English speaking family. In return for board and lodgings, the au pair will assist with light domestic duties and childcare. This gives them the opportunity to experience first-hand life in a British family, their cultures and customs and provides an ideal setting to learn English on an informal basis through interaction with their host family and conversing with its members.
In addition, they supplement this informal learning with formal learning within the setting of an institution whether college, language school, evening classes or learning centre where they are able to meet and mix with other students from abroad and of similar ages. During their free time they are able to visit places of historical, natural and social interests, such as theatres, galleries, museums, historical buildings, parks, restaurants, cinemas, gym, clubs, and of course the good old British pub. Families benefit from the au pair programme by having in-house support from a young adult, who in return for pocket money, full board and accommodation will provide childcare assistance and light domestic help.
As family requirements vary depending on ages of children, work pattern, family structure, the au pair programme offers a certain degree of flexibility so the family can arrange hours conducive to both the au pairs and their family requirements, taking into account their statutory free time and study time. For families with babies and young children, we also offer Professional childcare service within your home in the form of Nannies who are trained to care for and stimulate your child’s development and learning in a safe structured environment.
We ensure that all Nannies are police checked and vetted before appointing them to your family. We also interview them personally to get an idea of their personality and suitability for placements on our books. We also follow up references from past employers and lecturers in the case of newly qualified candidates. Families receive a copy of their dossier so they may have the opportunity to cross check for their own peace of mind. To cover your child care needs, we also offer a babysitting service, whether in your own home, or other chosen venue.
We register candidates with clean CRB report, sound interest in children and experience of babysitting or caring for children in a sole charge capacity. The majority of babysitters on our register work in the childcare field during the day and supplement their earnings with babysitting in their spare time. Another aspect of our service is the School Run Service to cope with morning drop offs and afternoon pickups from schools, nurseries, playgroups, after school clubs or childminders to allow parents the flexibility to get to work on time and leave at the end of the day knowing their child care has been taken care of. The School Run Assistant will stay with the child/ren, until the parent or guardian returns to take over. They will never leave before handing over to a parent, guardian, or proxy appointed in advance by the parent/guardian. We are an friendly approachable concern working professionally to meet your requirements, so feel free to contact us for further information or advice regarding your in-house childcare needs. If it is not within our realms, we will gladly point you in the right direction without obligation.
